Day 174

So, this photo wasn't taken today, but Faith's birthday is Sunday (she'll be 30), and I really like this photo (which was taken last weekend). Isn't she beautiful? Oh, and that's her Aunt Sue there with her. She's beautiful, too.

Day 173

I made a nice bed by my desk so Henry could rest here while I worked.

Day 172

I'll be photographing the orchard across the road a lot in the next few months. Right now it still appears bare and wintery, but if you look close, closer, even closer in the second photograph, you can see just a hint of the buds that are about to open. I expect blue skies and pink buds any day now.

Day 171

I've had a few requests for more photos of Henry, so he took a few minutes out of his busy evening to pose for me. Here is a series he likes to call "An Evening with Henry."

Day 170

We took a drive to Newport today--not exactly an ideal day for a walk at the beach.

Day 168

Not much to choose from today: three bad photos of speakers, eight magazine covers from a PowerPoint presentation, or this.

Day 166

I walked by Devallion and his girlfriend while carrying my camera and looking for something to photograph. He said, "Are you going to take my picture?" I said, "Sure." He told me where to find the "water feature" I thought every city ought to have (I feel a little creepy in cities with no river, lake, ocean, reservoir, etc.). In Denver, he said, it's the Platte River. I didn't know.

Day 161

Are we still in the "In like a lion" part of March? I can't wait for the "out like a lamb" half.

Day 160

The Oregon School for the Blind was established in 1872, and its first home was in a house in Salem. Later it was moved to a new home on 12th Street between Ferry and State. That building later became the home of Salem's first hospital. What a coincidence. Salem Hospital has now taken over the School for the Blind's final home, where it moved in 1894, at the corner of Church and Mission. The original building on that site was torn down in the 1950s, and the brick school now being destroyed by the hospital was built in its place. It seems rather sudden and sad that such a historic building could end up no more than piles of rubble.

Day 158--The Leg

Sometimes you just have to take a photo because so many people are asking "How's Don's leg?" You can't worry if it's pretty--you just have to do a little reporting. The leg is looking much, much better.

Monday, March 14, 2011

Day 157

From turning on the camera to posting: less then five minutes. A new record.

Saturday, March 12, 2011

Day 155

I just kind of liked this photo of Sarah with the hat Ted knitted for baby Whitney.

Friday, March 11, 2011

Day 154

The gardenia Faith gave me has nine blooms on it now--smells so pretty.

Thursday, March 10, 2011

Day 153

Henry. Henry. Henry. I get so tired of you people talking about that danged dog all the time. What about me--and Phoebe--but mostly me. Take MY picture for a change.

Day 152

I spent most of the day zipping from one place to another and, although I was in Portland where there are lots of things to photograph, the camera only came out once: at the GOSH conference at the Convention Center. One of the panel discussions included CEOs who had been featured in Comp News, so I took some photos there. This is Lynne Saxton of Christie Care.

Day 151

Two photos tonight. It had been awhile since I shared a picture of Henry. He's grown so much, I thought it might be time again. He has completed six weeks of puppy class (which he really missed last Saturday) and will be moving on to basic obedience soon. We are so proud.

And then there is my poor dairy farmer. He was attacked by a vicious cow today (no joke) and isn't feeling too spry. She rammed him into a fence twice, then hooked her head around him some way and tried to drag him. It was extremely scary, he said. His leg hurts a lot, mostly when he walks or stands, but otherwise he says he's okay. The cow is hanging in a meat locker.

Monday, March 7, 2011

Day 150

I have a project for my photography class that I have to prepare, so rather than taking a new photo, I'm posting a slightly old photo that will be part of the project.

Day 148

When choosing your photo of the day, it's hard to decide between a bat and a hippo butt.

Day 146--Spring

Spring arrived today in shades of pink, yellow, and brown.

These were taken today right across the street from SAIF.

Day 145

I only had time to take one photo today. I pulled over about three blocks from Newspace, where I had my photography class, to talk to Don on my cell phone. Before leaving, I snapped one photo of this little place across the street.
